Hi, It has been awhile. Lately, I have found myself nudging back into my art practice. Throughout my adult life my engagement in art making has been tidal… slipping away towards the horizon and then rushing back in, just when I think it may recede forever. I think this happens because I simply miss doing art. The space it fits inside of me gets too cold. Just as I was turning my face back to the creative sun, Joel Prevost invited me to participate in a group show about the beaches and ocean that I love. The intertidal zone is one of my muses… rich with life; ever changing and challenging to the organisms that hang on there … in the surf. Below are the details of the exhibition and a glimpse of the work I am doing to prepare for it. I will choose 4 small 8 X 12 inch pen and ink drawings to show at ‘Between Barnacle and Horizon’ but there will be others on my website afterwards as I continue to explore this intertidal series over the next fews months. Having an exhibition always affects me this way. It starts a flurry of creative output that results from the attention, exploration and thought needed to create the work. It is a relief to know I still have the capacity to find and fill this part of me … that longs to be heard. I am grateful to be part of this diverse group of artists who have gone through their own separate journeys so we can arrive together in this creative space. Please come and enjoy the show!! Darcy
