ABSTRACT DRAWING WITH MIXED MEDIA

Two Sundays

1-4 pm

September 18th and 25th (2023)

In this 6-hour course, we will ‘play’ with abstract drawing in both black & white and colour. You will be introduced to various media such as graphite, charcoal, chalk pastels, gouache and watercolour paint. I will also introduce colour theory in art in a 30-minute interactive presentation.

As you experiment with different line, value and colour, we will talk about why we are attracted to different imagery in art and how it reveals our individuality.

At the end of the course, you will have a number of large mixed media drawings to take with you. You may want to develop these further or use them future artwork such as collage.

Join me to explore the joy and discovery in mark-making materials, composition and your unique visual language in abstraction.

MEANINGFUL MIXED MEDIA ART

October 1st and 8th (2023)

In this 6-hour course, Judith will teach a variety of image building techniques like collage, photo-transfer, stencils, stamping and painting.

During this course you will be given an opportunity to combine a number of techniques on watercolour paper and on a wooden painting cradle. Judith will help you explore imagery that is uniquely yours.

Drawing or painting experience is not necessary because all of these techniques are uncomplicated. It is the building up of layers that develops the final image which is personal meaningful.

Art Making

My last exhibit called While Away was this past May 12th-14th. It is receding in time rather quickly as all events like this do for me.

When I’m involved in an art show, I am so intent on putting it all together that when it is over and all of that energy dissipates, the memory of it become encased and separate …difficult to place in the timeline of my more predictable everyday life.

The great thing about exhibiting artwork is that when it is over, space for new plans, ideas and work open up. For me, this is a necessary part of my creative process. I always work randomly in multiple sketchbooks but never more than when I’m exploring new creative ideas.
